A Week on the Airwaves – BBC Radio Gloucestershire
This week, it was such a joy to be part of a special feature on BBC Radio Gloucestershire, where each day a different member of our Lions at Large team joined Nicky Price’s morning show to share more about the trail.
-
Monday: We kicked off with Carrie, the brilliant Project Manager behind it all. She gave a great overview of how the whole trail came together and all the moving parts involved in making it happen.
-
Tuesday: We heard from Fran and Emily from Gloucester BID and Cheltenham BID, who spoke passionately about how exciting the trail is for local businesses, communities, and visitors alike and the energy it’s already bringing to both towns.
-
Wednesday: Amy from Spirax Sarco joined the conversation to talk about the learning programme, which her organisation has proudly sponsored. They’ve created inspiring learning packs for schools and even ran a hands-on workshop for pupils taking part such a great example of education and creativity coming together.
-
Thursday: Things turned emotional as we heard from a student and teacher at Bournside School in Cheltenham, who shared how they’ve been raising funds for the project and gave a sneak peek of their mini lion, Horatio, which will be proudly on display at Café No.1 in Cheltenham.
-
Friday (my turn!): I joined Nicky live to talk all about my lion sculpture, Zale — what the name means, where the idea came from, and why this cause is so close to my heart. We also chatted about the big launch day on 11th July, and how I’ll be standing by my sculpture in Gloucester from 10am–12pm, ready to say hello and celebrate together.
If you missed the live broadcasts, you can still listen back on BBC Sounds — just search for Nicky Price, 1st–5th July.
You can find them at about 11:41 each day. If you want to hear mine you can do so here
