Creative Time Together
You may remember my project Creative Café, it showed me just how powerful shared creativity can be for children facing health challenges and their families. It became a calm place to breathe, make, and simply be together, without pressure, expectations, or the feeling of having to get things “right”.
I’m really happy to share that I’ll be running a new 5-week course inspired by this work, now called Creative Time Together.
This course is designed for parents or carers and young people who are currently not attending, or only partly attending, school. It offers a friendly, relaxed space to step away from the demands of everyday life and spend time creating together.
Each week, we’ll explore simple art and craft activities using good-quality materials. The sessions are intentionally different from school: there are no outcomes to meet, no right or wrong way to take part, and nothing needs to be finished or judged. The focus is on the experience itself: gently getting out of the house, slowing down, and enjoying time side by side.
Creative Time Together isn’t about producing artwork; it’s about how creativity can feel. Many families find that making together can be calming, grounding, and confidence-building, especially when it happens in a supportive environment where expectations are lifted.
I know that starting something new can feel daunting, particularly when anxiety is involved. If it would help you or your young person to see the space before the course begins, we’d be very happy to meet you on 12th February. You can arrange this by emailing Abi at thequarrychapel@gmail.com.
The course is offered at a subsidised price, which includes all materials and refreshments for both the adult and young person.
If you’re looking for a gentle way to reconnect with creativity, spend meaningful time together, and take a small step back into the world then this space is here for you.
