Creativity in September - a year on
I started these blogs a year ago, ways to engage with creativity every month. I have a strong belief that creativity is incredibly human but also healing. I made the blogs as a way to help others realise creativity isn't just to become musicians or artists but that creativity can be simply baking a cake or noticing the sunlight on a path. Moments that should ease the pressure of the every day.
Saying that September this year is a big, pressure filled month for myself. I have my first solo art show. Whilst incredibly exciting, I'm equally filled with nerves and a how am i going to get this all done (it's two weeks to go as i'm writing this blog in my dressing gown, in bed on a Sunday morning). So I think this months creativity blog is going to be one about there is time..
We don't only have on moment a year to plan and do something. January doesn't have to be our goal setting for the year and anything we miss doesn't happen. We don't need to treat September like the year is nearly over so lets not try anything new.
There's still time to make something, to visit somewhere, to pick something back up or even try something new. But equally, there's also the time to look back and see what wonderful things we have tried and enjoyed. Take this month to look back and see what creative things you have enjoyed, not the finished completed parts but the half finished drawing, the flower you planted, the recipe you made, the film you watched or musician you saw play.
But what if you notice you didn't have much? that's useful too. Because there's still time to go and make some room in your life for it. The year isn't finished and neither are you! So this month instead of making a huge list of things you want to achieve before the year is out, how about picking one small thing and making time for that.
