Some pieces are about what happens within quiet moments, when there is enough space to simply play, notice and see where something takes you.
I started making the circles almost without thinking. I found the repeated movement of painting them strangely therapeutic, and at first I wasn't even sure whether they were bubbles, spots of light or simply shapes that wanted to be there. The painting grew around them, layer by layer, until they began to feel lighter, almost as though they were moving upwards.
There is a softness to the translucent circles, but also movement and energy in the layers beneath them. I like that they can be seen in different ways. Perhaps they are bubbles. Perhaps they are catching the light. Perhaps they don't need to be either.
