Latent means something that is present but not yet visible or fully developed.
That idea felt right for this painting. Beneath the deep reds and darker layers, flashes of light emerge slowly, suggesting something that has been there all along but isn't immediately revealed.
The longer you look, the more those hidden layers begin to appear. Latent felt like the right word for that quiet sense of potential beneath the surface.
